OMGoodness, so I had three super spectacular shoots yesterday, despite the ominous loom of the clouds ALL DAY LONG.... The weather actually ended up providing phenominal lighting from a photographic stand point, the mosquitos, on the other hand, were quite a bother (picture that in an English Thomas the Train type accent). The funniest part about all of this is that both families that I happened to "shoot" yesterday were from down south so hopefully it wasn't too much of a shocker for them. Haha!! But you know what, the shots that I got were well worth it. Check it out!
Well, something a lot different! I had the pleasure of taking photos of this family last night. It was really a unique learning experience photographing these beautiful costumes and the colours were phenomenal, as you can see. As much as I love black and white, processing these glorious colour details really put a spark in my love for colour. I look forward to the remaining summers' sessions to explore more. The entire family was a pleasure to work with.
OH! And even though the costumes were so great, my favourite shot of the session happens to be of gorgeous T leaning on the car. I LOVE this shot!
I had the pleasure of shooting another fab family of four today. Again I was chasing toddler shots around, trying to get a good one in the .0027 seconds that he stayed still long enough to look at me. It was really halarious actually. And actually, putting two and two together, I realize that again, older sis was lovin' life in front of the camera! Two shoots and two days in a row! I don't think that's ever happened before. I'm babbling. Take a look at these guys. Definitely a great looking family!
These guys seriously made me laugh my butt off! The kidletts were super adorable, each in their uniquely own way. Little D could not get enough of the camera, which I naturally can't get enough of either, and little P was just so engrossed in the world that I was reminded again to try and see the wonder in the world myself through the eyes of a toddler. Mom and Dad were so obviously enamored with eachother that I found myself forgetting they weren't an 18 year old couple in Young Love. Truely great experience for me this weekend and I look forward to proofing the rest of their session.
Enjoy! I sure did (do!) (as in DO love their pics!) (lol)
Ok, so I have always loved nature photography and in particular, macro nature photography. It fascinates me that so many intricate textures, fibers and cells can be captured by a camera. Yellowknife's our own locally superb photographer Dave Brosha phenomenal at capturing nature's finest esthetically pleasing sites. I marvel at his postings detailing how he can manipulate light and his equipment to get shots that I could only envision in my dreams. It's really something completely different than portrait photography.
I sometimes finding myself day dreaming about flying off into sites famous for being nature's best known beauties (like the tundra caribou that we get up north or the glorious mountainous terrain of the Nahanni) with Dave by my side. Well, this little dream has (sort of) come true! Renowned photographer Darwin Wiggett will be in Yellowknife teaching a one day course in July and I have luckily secured my seat in his class. Yay me! I can't wait to learn more since this will actually be my first "official" photography class. I have done a little dabbling, as my title says, with some macro nature work but with no background knowledge, tips or tricks, up my sleeve. I hope to be able to do a lot more in the years ahead of me. It's so peaceful.
Ha ha, my usual max number of bookings I do in a MONTH is about 4 and I managed to book about that in this single weekend alone. It was so much fun though with all of these guys. One of them being one of my best friends ever and her family. Me and this girl have actually been friends since we were 3, meeting in Rankin Inlet and staying friends with eachother since. That would bring us to almost 30 years!!! Wow, putting it that way makes me feel really nostalgic. It was a pleasure to shoot her family (ha ha, I always get a kick out of that one) again.
And then these guys were great too! Keeping up with two boys under 4 proved to be an interesting and halarious mission. I bet we all slept very well afterwards, I know I did. See ya at the park guys!
Ok, and then for the highlight of my weekend (no offense other people but getting to take photos of a family with teens was something I've never done so I was just lovin' it!) Anyway, these guys were a little shy at first but quickly opened up and gave me some great material to show mom and dad. I'm so excited to finish editing these.
Ha ha, she is one sexy beast, this lady! We laughed so so so so hard during this whole thing, mostly because she is one of my best friends ever, so it's a wonder I got so many non-laughy, stunning shots of my gorgeous friend! She is gorgeous though and it was great seeing her again!
But I'm trying hard not to let it get ME down! This weekend, that proved to be an easy feat as my BBF Tara was in town with her daughter and we had the best. time. EVER! And she even let me take some super sexay rockstar boudoir pics of her. It was a first for the both of us and was halarious! It also ended up giving me some stunning shots for my up and coming Boudoir portfolio. Unfortunately, I can't even show you any of the shots from the shoot because my son has once again sucked on the end of my camera-to-computer-cord and now it doesn't work!!! The weirdest thing is that it's like the 70th thousandth one he's wrecked! HA!
And, actually, no other sneak peaks for this week at all! Please come back soon and check www.tanyaashley.com for the new site. It is simply amazing, I promise!
