A Tale of Two Beauties (and 100 million BUGS!!)

Getting to spend time with a family as small but as tight as these two ended up being a real treat. They reminded me of one of my best friends EVER and her daughter and it was fun to be around them in that sense. They both are such beautiful women, it was easy to get lots of great shots. Well, except for the BUGS!!! Man oh man, we had one heck of a time out there, it was the worst night of bugs I've experienced in ages. So what we decided to do was change locations and head to Pilot's monument where we crossed our fingers (and toes, and legs, hair, eyes, you name it!) that the height would prove to be a successful get-a-way from the evening's arch enemies. We were in luck.

I Heart My New Camera...

Seriously, what a difference! I feel like I've been artistically set free from the confines of a mediocre set up in comparison to this combo! The arrival of the camera was much anticipated since I ordered it (in the words of my son Matteo) Fifteen Hundred Million months ago. Expecting to get it before the crazy summer rush, I make did with my old standby Canon 30D (which really was a work horse, bless his now-moved-to-back-up-status soul! Then, with the purchase of the 24-70 2.8L USM lens to boot, I am in photographer equipment heaven.

Thanks also to my stunning little 2.5 year old model, with her stunning white blonde hair, river water blue eyes and pink lily lips, she was the perfect subject to capture with my new set up!

And also a short perforkmance by big bro and sis, who will share the spotlight in an encore presentation in the fall!

Lovely Family, Lovely New Baby Girl

I had the pleasure of meeting mom and dad a couple of months ago to do their maternity photos. I was so thrilled to have been asked back to shoot the newborn photos. It was tough getting this sweet baby to cozy down at first but she eventually succumbed to the famous drunken milk slumber, like newborns always do! She was pure sugar to photograph. Beautiful milky soft skin, lots of gorgeous dark hair and she had already put on enough weight to make her a little squishy-er than most little newbies.

Thank you mom and dad for the invitation to come photograph your new and beautiful family. I look forward to the next session already.

Check check check it out!

I had a great time with this family! As much as I love the spontaneity of chasing toddlers and going with the newborn/infant flow, I have to admit that it's nice to be able to direct older people to do EXACTLY what I want once in a while! These guys were giggly and fun, and we all laughed A. LOT.

Enjoy!

Super Fab Fam of Four!

Lookie Lookie, let's crack this cookie! Ok excuse the lamo rhyme, at least I tried. So it proved to take a wee bit of time, and she sure gave me a run for my money, but this adorable little firecracker ended up giving me some great little expressions and opening up near the end (well, the middle really). Plus, mom, dad and GG were there to add to the fun as well. I just love sessions like this where everyone is just so...themselves....and it shows in the photos. That's what is so important - real, raw life like images that will shoot you back in time when you look at them 10, 15, 20 years from now. LOVE it!

Oh and let's not forget Grandma and Grandpa who were there for the original session that got rained out! We did an impromptu little mini session at the house while it poured outside...

Boys Boys Boys

My Gosh not only were these two really freakin' cute, they were also super fun! I had to eat leaves and little green growing pine cone thingees to get them to do whatever I wanted but the swap was totally worth it. Besides, it was my idea. Gotta make deals with boys, it's just the way they roll.

By the end of it, I was piggy backing these little guys around and we all agreed that we had the best. time. EVER.

Newborn Session - Yay finally!

Newborns are the reason I live and breathe! There is nothing better than a perfect photograph of a perfectly formed new little human being. My heart is melting just thinking about this little sweetheart. Thank you much to the family for having me there to capture this tiny bundle's arrival into your lovely family!

Ok, so I have been so blessed, I realize, with wonderful YK families to photograph. Not only do I have the best full time job ever working with young offenders, my first love, but I also have the best part time gig going on with this photography stuff. I just really feel so fullfilled right now and am shouting it out to the world! Well, to you guys anyway.

These peeps were awesome. Through and through, plain and simple. The two oldest were super charming and actually laughed at all my ridiculous jokes. LOVE IT, number one. Then toddler J became my little BFF. LOVE IT number two. And then, to top it all off, mom and dad were so "cool" and down to earth, in their interactions with the kids and just in letting me into their little world, it totally made this session rock. LOVE IT number three.

I could have pitched a tent and stayed. For real.
